6.13.5 Create new measurements

·       Search for the equipment: similar to the Search submenu

·       The remaining steps except the last one differs based on the equipment’s type

o   Non-discoverable equipments: PVSR shows in a drop-down list the available measurement types and below it the parameters for those types

§  Index: the measurement’s Index parameter. The type of the measurement and the Index parameter together are unique for each equipment. For the interpretation of the Index parameter please look up the equipment type collector documentation in the Appendix (not every measurement type uses the value of the parameter during the measurement, sometimes it is only used for grouping different measurement types together)

§  Name prefix: PVSR will prefix each measurement name below it with its value. It is only used for this purpose, its value will not be saved. It is used to easily edit the names of multiple measurements

§  One measurement name for each measurement type: if the content of a field is deleted, then that measurement will not be created

§  Additional measurement parameters, please look up the equipment type collector documentation in the Appendix

o   SNMP equipments: first the user has to select between the interface traffic/error and the other measurement types. After this the next steps is the same as the discoveryable non-SNMP equipments

o   Discoveryable non-SNMP equipments: PVSR does a discovery and shows those measurements which are available but not yet created. The table header might contain a “query extended measurement types too” link if some of the measurement types are configured initially to not be included in the discovery. For further information see the 7.2 Measurement definitions section. If PVSR detects a problem during the discovery then it shows a further step allowing the modification of the equipment parameters

·       Creating the measurement. Further steps:

o   Create new thresholds for the newly created measurements: choosing this option will hide the already existing measurements in the “Create new thresholds" wizard

o   View the equipment in the Settings menu

o   View the equipment in the Measurement menu
