9.4 Chart settings browsing area

When the application is showing charts then it shows also a “Chart settings” group on the browsing area, which can be used to change the display of the charts. The meanings of the individual fields are:

  • Chart: The chart type can be changed (JavaScript or image)
  • Indicator: It is only shown if we are using the JavaScript charts. If its value is Common then when we move the mouse above a chart then the date&time indicator moves on the other charts as well, and the measurement values are displayed on the other charts too
  • Zooming: It is only shown if we are using the JavaScript charts. It governs what happens when the user zooms in a chart without reloading the page: should PVSR zoom in the other charts, should it ask to do it or never do it at all
  • Y prefix: It is only shown if we are using the JavaScript charts. If its value is Automatic the system automatically uses K, M, G or T on the Y axis (1 000, 1 000 000, …), otherwise it shows the exact values
  • Peak: The chart usually displays the measurement data in a lower time resolution than those are recorded in the database (e.g. if a 5-minute interval measurement is displayed for a week, then one column corresponds to 15 minutes, where the average value of three measurements is displayed). In such cases it can be necessary to display the real peak (maximum) value in that interval by choosing the “Yes” radio button. The default peak settings configured for the corresponding chart or measurement is used if the “Default” radio button is chosen
  • Resolution: The number of values displayed on the chart can be changed here. Higher resolution gives a more accurate view, but if there are too many data points displayed on the chart and the values change rapidly, then it will be difficult to get a good overview of the displayed data. In this case the use of a lower resolution is recommended.
  • Minimum/Maximum: the scale of the chart’s vertical axis can be adjusted by setting the minimum and maximum values. Percentage values, such as 120%, can also be specified here with the use of the % symbol, in which case 100% corresponds to the maximum of the displayed values. Appropriate measurement units for the displayed data, such as 12.5M, can also be used here where K, M and G stand for kilo, mega and giga, respectively.
