5.9.13 Backup

The backup module isn’t configured by default and it is only needed if PVSR is using its backup feature.

There are three different backup roles in PVSR:

·       Primary

·       Backup with configuration synchronization

·       Backup without configuration synchronization

There can be only one primary and one backup PVSR instance (with or without synchronization). The backup module has to be configured in both PVSR instances, but it cannot be started on the primary system or on the backup without synchronization system.

The backup PVSR periodically gets the SQLLDR files from the primary system, loads them into the database, calculates the reports and thresholds and it is also running the data migration and data compression modules. If the backup role is “with synchronization” then the Backup module runs once a day and transfers the content of every configuration related table from the primary system to the backup system.
