11.5 Search menu

The use of the search menu is described in Section 6.11. There are however five differences between the two menu items:

·       This menu item is accessible for everyone

·       The user cannot search for all the objects types for which you could search using the other menu item

·       The results are shown under the Measurement menu rather than the Setting menu

·       If the has the right to it then he can search for deleted elements as well

·       PVSR can find an object (for example an equipment) following all possible “pathes” (for example under normal and virtual sites). It can even show all of these “pathes” unless the “Unique results” is set to Yes, in which case it only shows the first one

If the results contain only measurements or charts, then all of them can be displayed together by clicking on the [view all] link on the top of the table. The page containing the charts that opens after clicking on that link has a “Save as virtual equipment” link on its right hand side that allows the creation of a virtual equipment containing the displayed list of measurements or charts. Therefore, this method can substitute the manual selection of measurements and charts under the Customization menu item.

As mentioned in section 3.4 Using the display tabs, the user can also use the right and middle (wheel) mouse buttons and the Ctrl + left mouse button combination on the result links.
